Plastic beer crates at the buy-back point — what we accept, how much the deposit is, and how wholesale works

Plastic beer crates — returnable packaging with real value

Most people know that a glass bottle carries a deposit. Far fewer realise that a plastic beer crate — the grey, green or brown one that holds the bottles — is also returnable packaging covered by the deposit system and can be handed in for cash. At Skup Butelek Poznań at ul. Górecka 6, we accept plastic beer crates from individual customers, shops, wholesalers and catering businesses. Below you will find everything you need to know before you come.

Which plastic beer crates do we accept?

Not every crate looks the same, but the principle is simple: we accept crates that are in working condition and suitable for re-use. We inspect every batch before paying out cash, so it is worth knowing in advance what we expect.

Accepted types of crates

• Plastic crates for 0.5 l bottles (standard type, 20 bottles)
• Crates for 0.33 l bottles (smaller format)
• Crates for 1 l and 1.5 l bottles (less common, but accepted)
• Brewery crates from various brands — Żywiec, Tyskie, Lech, Okocim and others
• Crates in colours: grey, green, brown, yellow

What we do not accept

• Crates with cracked walls or a broken base
• Crates with illegible or removed manufacturer/brewery markings
• Crates that have lost their shape and cannot be stacked

If you are unsure about the condition of your crates, call us before you come or check the plastic beer crate buy-back price list — you will find up-to-date information on accepted types and rates there.

How much is the deposit for a beer crate?

The deposit for a plastic beer crate depends on its type and current market rates. At our buy-back point we apply rates that reflect the true value of the packaging within the deposit system — no underpricing, no hidden deductions. Cash is paid out on the spot, at the counter, with no unnecessary waiting.

The indicative deposit for a single plastic beer crate is typically between 3 and 6 PLN, depending on the format and the brewery. You can always find current, detailed rates in our full returnable packaging buy-back price list for Poznań. Prices may change, so we recommend checking them before your visit, especially when bringing larger quantities.

Buying back crates without a receipt — is it possible?

Yes. At our bottle buy-back point in Poznań, we do not require a receipt or purchase invoice. Beer crates, like glass bottles, are returnable packaging — their value comes from the deposit, not from proof of purchase. So if you have been collecting crates over a longer period, have taken them over from a closed venue, are renting premises from a previous tenant, or simply lost your receipt long ago — come on in without worry. Buying back bottles without a receipt is our everyday business.

Wholesale sale of beer crates — an offer for businesses and the catering industry

Do you own a restaurant, bar, off-licence, beverage wholesaler or warehouse? Do you regularly accumulate larger quantities of crates and are looking for a reliable wholesale collection partner? We have prepared a dedicated cooperation pathway specifically for you.

How does the wholesale buy-back work?

• You contact us by email or phone, providing the approximate quantity and type of crates
• You receive an individual wholesale quote — often more favourable than the retail rate
• We arrange a delivery date or, for large volumes, possible collection
• Settlement is made in cash or by bank transfer, depending on the agreement

All wholesale transactions are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the BDO register (Waste Database), which is particularly important for companies obliged to keep records of packaging waste. You can submit a wholesale quote request and enquiry online — we will respond promptly, without unnecessary red tape.

Crates are just the beginning — what else do we buy?

Plastic beer crates are only one part of our offer. At ul. Górecka 6 in Poznań, we offer a comprehensive buy-back service covering:

• Glass beer bottles — see the returnable beer bottle buy-back price list
• Soft drink and cola bottles — details in the soft drink and cola bottle buy-back price list
• Stainless steel kegs and barrels — popular among restaurateurs and breweries; a detailed stainless steel keg and barrel buy-back price list is available on our website

Why it is worth returning crates — not only for the money

The deposit system in Poland is not just cash in your pocket — it is a real mechanism for reducing the amount of packaging waste in circulation. Plastic beer crates are made from polypropylene (PP) — a recyclable material that, after appropriate processing, goes back into production. By returning crates to the buy-back point instead of throwing them in the bin, you take part in a closed-loop material cycle — and you get paid for it. It is a rare case where ecology and economy go hand in hand.

Getting to Górecka 6 and parking — stress-free

Many people give up on returning crates because they are not sure how to transport them efficiently or where to park. In our case, this is not a problem. The buy-back point at ul. Górecka 6 in Poznań has a large, convenient car park where you can easily park a passenger car, a van or a smaller lorry. You can drive right up to the unloading area — our staff will help you count and process your goods quickly. Details about opening hours and directions can be found on the contact page for the Poznań bottle buy-back point (Górecka 6).

While you are clearing out — do not forget about scrap metal and cables

If you are having a bigger clear-out — after renovating a venue, closing down a storage facility or winding up a catering business — alongside crates you may come across old electrical cables, copper wiring or other scrap metal. Do not take it to the tip. Copper cables and electrical wiring are bought by the specialist copper cable and wiring buy-back point SkupKabli.poznan.pl, while steel scrap, non-ferrous metals and other secondary raw materials are accepted by EURO-SCRAP, the steel and non-ferrous metal scrap buyer in Poznań — both partners of the EURO-SCRAP Group, of which we are a member. It is worth doing it all in one go and getting rid of everything for cash in a single trip.
